Dazed and Confused Geisler flings self upon Caner’s Funeral Pyre

The fundamentalist Canerite popularly known as Peter “Blind as a Baptist” Lumpkins has published a statement by an apparently senile Dr. Norman Geisler:

To Whom It May Concern:

“I am familiar with the slanderous charges that have been made  against Dr. Ergun Caner generated by some Muslim groups and other extremists.  I have looked into the matter, talking with Ergun and other principal parties at Liberty, and am convinced that the charges are libelous.  I am also convinced that whatever ambiguous or misstatement that may have been made, Dr. Caner has done nothing heretical, immoral, or illegal.  I stand with him against these vicious attacks.  He has taken a strong stand on important issues that stir up controversy, but to my knowledge has done nothing unorthodox or malicious.  I urge all to consider him innocent unless proven guilty.  He has welcomed an inquiry from the Liberty authorities.  Let’s await  their findings.  Christians have a bad habit of shooting their wounded.  Let’s pray for and encourage our brother.”

Geisler’s statement is to logic as Caner’s testimony is to truth. Think particle/anti-particle annihilation and you will have a good idea of what I mean.

Geisler begins with his assumed conclusion – the charges are slanderous and “generated by some Muslim groups and other extremists.” They have absolutely NOTHING to do with anything that Caner actually said or did! They have NOTHING to do with any of Caner’s outrageous LIES AND FABRICATIONS recorded in print, audio, and video in which he claimed to have come to America as a teen speaking broken English, trained in the “Islamic Youth Jihad” in Turkey to do “that which was done on 11 September.” Nope! The overwhelming evidence of Caner’s decade of deception has absolutely nothing to do with the charges at all. They are all baseless SLANDER! And LIBELOUS too! And from dirty rotten lying Muslims no less! Why even bother with an “inquiry” at all?

The good “Doctor” continued with a brilliant demonstration of Advanced Non-Sequitur Apologetics by refuting assertions that no one had made. He tells us he is convinced Caner has done nothing “heretical” or “illegal” or “unorthodox”??? Brain calling Dr. Geisler! Brain calling Dr. Geisler! No such “charges” have been filed against your client. Please try to remain calm. Don’t try to move. Help is on the way … white coats, straight-jacket, the works. Geisler has LOST HIS MIND. We are witnessing the Moron of Morons defending the Liar of Liars. It is little wonder Scripture describes these folks as “fools” with a “debased mind” (Romans 1).

And there is more of course. Geisler assures us that he didn’t come to his conclusions without doing some serious research. Oh no. He went to the source and got his evidence straight from the horse’s ass. He carefully analyzed the testimony of impartial witnesses like “Ergun and other principal parties at Liberty” and walked away convinced of exactly that which he believed before he spoke to them. The charges are slanderous! And we knew that anyway since they came from a bunch of dirty rotten lying Muslims and “other extremists” like Christianity Today and the Baptist Press.

And with a final devastating flare of self-refutation, Geisler reminds us that the good old boys at Liberty have not yet finished their inquiry and so we should “await their findings” before coming to any conclusions. Say what? Exactly how does that cohere with Geisler’s repeated conclusion that Caner is innocent and the charges slanderous? Hello??? Is there anybody in there?

Geisler has assured his followers that his blind support of Caner has nothing to do with the fact that Caner is a faculty member of Geisler’s new Veritas Theological Seminary. He also explained that there is no irony in Ergun “The Liar” Caner being a faculty member at a Seminary named for Truth (Veritas).
