Note Feature now available in the Interlinear Bible DB!

Post by RAMcGough »

The Interlinear Bible DB now has a Note Feature for members of this forum. It's brand new (BETA) so please let me know if you encounter any bugs or functionality you think would be good to add.

Go to the Bible DB. If you are not logged in you will see a "Log in" link which takes you to the forum login form. After logging in, you are returned to the Bible DB and see your user name in the upper right corner:

Existing notes are listed under the verse number, just below the "Note +" (add note) button. In the current design, user notes are private by default, which means they're visible only to the user who authored them, and administrators of the forum. This is necessary because I don't have time to moderate all the notes and I want to make this feature available to everyone since it is extremely useful for study of gematria. I will be creating a set of Note Standards (with the help of God and all the members who want to contribute public notes) that we all must abide by. In the mean time, anyone can create all the private notes that they like, and everyone is free to request that I make them public.

The note feature uses the same Editor as this forum, so you can format, quote, add links and pics in your notes. There are four types of notes: General, Bible Wheel, Isaiah-Bible Correlation, and Gematria. They default to Gematria, which causes three fields to be exposed for Standard, Ordinal, and Reduced gematria. There is a button to autofill the fields with either the values of the whole verse or the selected words. Only the values chosen for display in the Options panel will be automatically filled. If "Fill by Selection" is chosen, the selected words are preserved in the URL so clicking the note will load the verse with the words selected so you see the correct value.

When you search for a number, all public gematria notes and those you personally published for that number will be returned. And if there is an article on that number in my Gematria Reference, it will be displayed as a link button at the top that says "Article on 3168" in this example:

Please try it out and let me know if it works for you, if you want any additional features, or if you find any bugs.

Here's an example for a note on Genesis 1:1.
