Steroidal Compounds are important organic compounds based on the fundamental saturated tetracyclic hydrocarbon: 1,2-cyclopentanoperhydrophenanthrene (gonane or sterane). These four cycloalkane rings consist of 17 carbon atoms that are bound together, which include three cyclohexane rings and one cyclopentane ring. When varying the functional groups attached to the basic steroid rings or changing the number of double bonds in the carbon rings, we can get a lot different steroids.
