Here are some notes that I posted online back in 1999. I am republishing them here because I think that they might be useful. Some of the figures are only approximate, so I will need to rewrite it later.

Part 1

The Sun and Moon appear the same size in the sky. Coincidence!

The Sun spins with a mean rate of 27.275 days.

The Moon spins with a mean rate of 27.32 days.

Coincidence!

The Moon's diameter compared to the Earth is 0.2727 Earth diameters.

Notice how everything is based around 27.32 or 27.27.

PART 2:

The Moon's period of orbit around the Earth is 27.32 days

The Earth's period of orbit around the Sun is 365.256 days. This is the

approximate reciprocal of 27.32 -

So

27.32/365.256 = 0.2735 x 0.2735

The periods of the Earth and Moon are approximate reciprocals of each other.

Again notice the recurrence of 27.32.

PART 3:

From the Earth, the Moon appears to be the same size in the sky as the

Sun. From the Earth, the Moon subtends an angle of 0.5184 degrees, as

does the Sun.

If the Moon is placed touching the Earth (like a snooker ball), then

the angle made between the diameter of the Earth and the centre of the

Moon is 51.84 degrees - coincidence.

In one month, the Moon travels once around the Earth, and in one month

the Earth travels a fraction of it's orbit around the Sun. The angle

moved through by the Earth in 27.27 days is 5.184 x 5.184 degrees - and

this is equivalent to 0.2732 x 0.2732 x the Earth's full orbit around

the Sun.

360 degrees = completion, perfection, unity

5.184 x 5.184 = 360 x 0.2727 x 0.2727

PART 4:

What's more, in 27.27 days, the Earth travels a distance of exactly

6600 x 6600 miles around the Sun.

66 = 51.84 x 1.2727

66 x 66 = 51.84 x 51.84 x Phi (the golden ratio)

PART 5:

From the Earth, the Moon subtends an angle of 0.5184 degrees

- ie it has a diameter of 0.5184 degrees in our sky.

From the Moon, the Earth appears as a disc of diameter 1.897

degrees in the Moon's sky.

In one month the Moon makes one complete revolution of the

Earth - moving through 360 degrees of it's orbit. 360 = 18.97 x 18.97

In one month the Earth moves through 5.184 x 5.184 degrees of

it's orbit.

Observe the resulting pattern -

Earth Size = 1.897 degrees Moon Size = 0.5184 degrees

Earth moves 5.184 x 5.184 degrees Moon Moves 18.97 x 18.97 degrees

Summary :

In one Sun Day of 27.27 days, the Earth moves through a fraction of

it's orbit equivalent to 0.2732 x 0.2732 x the full orbit

- in one Sun Day of 27.27 days, the Earth moves through an arc of 5.184 x 5.184 degrees

(0.5184 degrees defining the size of the Moon from the Earth)

- in one Sun Day of 27.27 days the Earth travels a distance of 6600 x 6600 miles = 5184

x 5184 x 1.2727 x 1.2727

= 5184 x 5184 x phi

Each of these coincidences defines the squared circle of the Moon.

The angle moved through by the Earth can be expressed in RADIANS. One

radian is the arc moved through around a circle when the length of the

arc is equal to the radius of the circle.

The radius of the Earth's orbit around the Sun is 92,957,000 miles. The

length of the arc covered in one Sun Day is 6600 x 6600 miles.

So, in radians this arc is 6600 x 6600/92957000

= 2.16 x 0.216 radians

This is remarkable because 2160 miles is the diameter of the Moon - so

once again the arc moved through by the Earth in one month points

directly to the squared circle of the Moon.

It should not surprise you to discover then, that in one YEAR, the

number of radians moved through by the Earth is 7.92 x 0.792 (7920

miles being the diameter of the Earth)

DISTANCE MOVED BY THE EARTH IN 27.27 days

0.2732 x 0.2732 Earth orbits

5.184 x 5.184 degrees

2.16 x 0.216 radians

5184 x 5184 x phi miles

Each of these numbers defines the squared circle of the Moon

Moon is 0.2732 x Earth diameter

Moon has diameter of 0.5184 degrees from Earth

Moon has diameter of 2160 miles
