    Statue of Liberty

The Statue of Liberty, gifted to the United States by France in 1886 is known to the world as a symbol of freedom. This statue was named after the Roman goddess of freedom, Libertas. The irony is that this iconic lady of freedom, stood proclaiming her message 34 years before the women she symbolized gained their freedom to vote, and even to this day women have not gained full equality with men, especially within the Christian religion that this country was founded upon.

    Statue of Liberty

    Hi Rose,

especially within the Christian religion that this country was founded upon.
Perhaps it would be more accurate to say, 'appeared to be founded upon'. There was another agenda at work at the same time. Same old, same old.

Messiah Jesus showed the way in giving women respect, but it only works for us if we (men included) have taken on board the power of His death and resurrection. There is no other true freedom, nor can be, where God is not worshipped - where hearts are hard as stone to Him.
16 That he would grant you, according to the riches of his glory, to be strengthened with might by his Spirit in the inner man; 17 That Christ may dwell in your hearts by faith; that ye, being rooted and grounded in love, 18 May be able to comprehend with all saints what is the breadth, and length, and depth, and height; 19 And to know the love of Christ, which passeth knowledge, that ye might be filled with all the fulness of God.

    Hi Charisma,

Glad you stopped by for a chat...

Showing women respect is far different from giving them equal human rights. The sad thing is that God-fearing, good Christian men have all the support they need from the Bible to deny women the freedom of human rights, all the while treating them with "respect".

    All the best,
    Rose

    Hello Rose

The thought of liberty reminds me of the verse in Revelation (16:13) And I saw three unclean spirits like frogs come out of the mouth of the dragon, and out of the mouth of the beast, and out of the mouth of the false prophet. 14 For they are the spirits of devils, working miracles, which go forth unto the kings of the earth and of the whole world, to gather them to the battle of that great day of God Almighty.

The French are somewhat regarded by the derisory name of "frogs" and we recall the French motto; Liberty, equality, fraternity (3 spirits?)

    Just a thought

    David
