And then we have the alternate cases of folks like George Burns who frequently smoked cigars lived to a hundred. We must never forget that our genes play a very important role in such matters.

That's very interesting, but not surprising. It makes sense that statistically folks who eat better and don't smoke or drink live longer.

That excuse doesn't work because it suggests that God commanded something that was not good for his people. And besides, the Bible never says that eating meat is bad for you. That's a doctrine inferred from the fact that "originally" God only gave the "green herbs" for food. What does the fall have to do with eating meat? Why would God give "every living thing that moveth" for food if it were something that we shouldn't eat?
Have you all heard of Daniel's diet? Vegetables and water for ten days, abstain from royal food (mainly meat) and wine and you will look much healthier, younger and better nourished.

Daniel 1:11 Daniel then said to the guard whom the chief official had appointed over Daniel, Hananiah, Mishael and Azariah, 12 'Please test your servants for ten days: Give us nothing but vegetables to eat and water to drink. 13 Then compare our appearance with that of the young men who eat the royal food, and treat your servants in accordance with what you see.' 14 So he agreed to this and tested them for ten days.

15 At the end of the ten days they looked healthier and better nourished than any of the young men who ate the royal food. 16 So the guard took away their choice food and the wine they were to drink and gave them vegetables instead.

The Seventh Day Adventists are an interesting crew. They seem to think that God ordained vegetarianism ... and then commanded priests to eat meat???? And if you worship on Sunday you bear the mark of the beast!

Religion is the root of all silliness.

Very nice ... and it fits so well on Spoke 20 of the Bible Wheel, aligned with Dr. Luke's Gospel which focuses on health and healing (Resh KeyWord Rapha). See my article The Great Physician.
No one knows what the mark of the Beast actually is.

I don't think that is true. Revelation makes it very clear that it is a symbol marking those who are not saved. It is the unbelievers' counterpart to the "Father's name" that is written on the forehead of believers. This is confirmed by the fact that the mark of the beast and the mark on believers appear together within the space of four verses. That's called "context." And it is confirmed again by the OT symbolism that readers of Revelation would have recognized:
Deuteronomy 6:6 And these words, which I command thee this day, shall be in thine heart: 7 And thou shalt teach them diligently unto thy children, and shalt talk of them when thou sittest in thine house, and when thou walkest by the way, and when thou liest down, and when thou risest up. 8 And thou shalt bind them for a sign upon thine hand, and they shall be as frontlets between thine eyes [forehead]. 9 And thou shalt write them upon the posts of thy house, and on thy gates.
I don't think there is any mystery about the mark of the beast at all. The confusion was created by the incoherent "literal interpretation" promoted by Futurists who don't have half a clue about how to interpret the Bible.
