From the wiki:
Pareidolia (Religious people seem particularly prone to pareidolia. Catholics see the Virgin Mary in a grilled cheese sandwhich,/pærɨˈdoʊliə/ parr-i-doh-lee-ə) is a psychological phenomenon involving a vague and random stimulus (often an image or sound) being perceived as significant. Common examples include seeing images of animals or faces in clouds, the man in the moon or the Moon rabbit, and hearing hidden messages on records played in reverse. The word comes from the Greek para- – "beside", "with", or "alongside"—meaning, in this context, something faulty or wrong (as in paraphasia, disordered speech) and eidōlon – "image"; the diminutive of eidos – "image", "form", "shape". Pareidolia is a type of apophenia.
I thought of this psychological disorder after viewing this video that explains how the Rapture, WW III, the Mark of the Beast and the Whore of Babylon are all depicted on the One Dollar Bill:
- Skepticism is the antiseptic of the mind.
- Remember why we debate. We have nothing to lose but the errors we hold. Who but a stubborn fool would hold to errors once they have been exposed?
