Hi,

Fear is obviously one of the ways in which God motivates his people to be righteous and come to him. Fear also motivates God's people to seek God.

Fear as in all emotions are created by God. Fear can be good or bad depending on how one's use it just like in guns. People can use guns to instill fear and rob the bank; or people could carry guns to protect themselves and instill fear on their would-be attackers.

There are just too many verses related to fear that God motivates people or people are motivated to come to Him. It works in both ways. I'll just list a few:

Deuteronomy 10:12
[ Fear the LORD ] And now, O Israel, what does the LORD your God ask of you but to fear the LORD your God, to walk in all his ways, to love him, to serve the LORD your God with all your heart and with all your soul,

1 Samuel 12:24
But be sure to fear the LORD and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.
Job 28:28
And he said to man, 'The fear of the Lord—that is wisdom, and to shun evil is understanding.' "

Proverbs 1:7

The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge, but fools despise wisdom and discipline.

Jeremiah 5:22
Should you not fear me?" declares the LORD. "Should you not tremble in my presence? I made the sand a boundary for the sea, an everlasting barrier it cannot cross. The waves may roll, but they cannot prevail; they may roar, but they cannot cross it

Revelation 15:4
Who will not fear you, O Lord, and bring glory to your name? For you alone are holy. All nations will come and worship before you, for your righteous acts have been revealed."
