Just a small finding which I think is significant to Spoke 10. Since Yod the tenth letter means hand and has to do with whatever is done by the hand: doing.

I've seen the word do in many places which I would conclude and say it's not a coincidence. But:


Looking for:
doest thou well
Jonah 4
4 Then said the LORD, Doest thou well to be angry?
...
9 And God said to Jonah, Doest thou well to be angry for the gourd? And he said, I do well to be angry, even unto death.

The phrase is repeated twice and concentrated on doing.

I can see how "doing" something can be represented by the symbol of the hand (Yad), but I hesitate to say that this association would then provide enough basis to link it to the symbolic meaning of Yod and then to Jonah.

OTOH, the word for 'do well' begins with Yod (Yatav) and its greatest concentration is in Jonah because of its three occurrences in that book. In Genesis, this same word is maximized in Chapter 32 (three occurrences as well!), which corresponds to Jonah (Book 32).

It begins to seem significant. The word is etimologically related to Tov (Good). It is Tov "prefixed" by Yod, so it makes sense! Yod (Action) + Tov (Good) = Do Good!

And as I was writing the above I remembered there was a passage in the NT that says "that they do good, etc..." and I was thinking it was in Titus, but I've just checked and found out that it is actually in 1 Timothy on Spoke 10!

1Ti 6:17 Charge them that are rich in this world, that they be not highminded, nor trust in uncertain riches, but in the living God, who giveth us richly all things to enjoy;
1Ti 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate.
That's puzzling! :confused2:


Further investigation reveals that there is a Greek word called euergesia which means "benefit, good deed done". It appears only twice: in Acts 4:9 and 1 Timothy!
1Ti 6:2 And they that have believing masters, let them not despise them, because they are brethren; but rather do them service, because they are faithful and beloved, partakers of the benefit. These things teach and exhort.

And the corresponding verb (euergeteo; to do good) appears only once in Scripture, in Acts 10!
Act 10:38 How God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Ghost and with power: who went about doing good, and healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with him.
I'm impressed. The Bible is truly an infinite Book!

Here are some more finding concerning the word Yatav as it relates to Spoke 10 governed by the Tenth Letter Yod:
In Leviticus, its appearance is almost constrained to Chapter 10, with only one hit outside this chapter.
In Numbers, it only appears in Chapter 10! In 10:32, it appears twice:
Numbers 10:32 And it shall be, if thou go with us, yea, it shall be, that what goodness the LORD shall do unto us, the same will we do unto thee.
In Hosea, it only appears in Chapter 10!Yatav really stands out in the Inner Cycles. And the book that has the greatest concentration of this word is Jonah (Book 32) because of its three occurrences in a book of such small size.

Keeping up with the theme of 'doing good' on Spoke 10 that we’ve discovered, I checked the references to 'good works' in the NT. We amazingly find another reference to the doing of good, this time in John 10:32!
John 10:32 Jesus answered them, Many good works have I shewed you from my Father; for which of those works do ye stone me?
This links to the verse quoted above that talks about Jesus 'doing good'.

As we search for other mentions of 'good works' in the NT, we find that 1 Timothy on Spoke 10 is the book that has the greatest number of them!
1 Timothy 2:10 But (which becometh women professing godliness) with good works.

1 Timothy 3:1 This is a true saying, If a man desire the office of a bishop, he desireth a good work.

1 Timothy 5:10 Well reported of for good works; if she have brought up children, if she have lodged strangers, if she have washed the saints' feet, if she have relieved the afflicted, if she have diligently followed every good work.

1 Timothy 5:10:25 Likewise also the good works of some are manifest beforehand; and they that are otherwise cannot be hid.

1 Timothy 6:18 That they do good, that they be rich in good works, ready to distribute, willing to communicate.
And we also have another reference to good works in Hebrews 10…
Hebrews 10:24 And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works.

My initial insight that interprets the word Yatav as a combination of Yod, denoting action, with the word Tov (good) is strenghtend by the only occurrence of Yatav in Alphabetic Verses. It is found in the Tet stanza of Psalm 119:

Psa 119:68 Thou art good [tov], and doest good [yatav]; teach me thy statutes.
Tov is the most common Tet KeyWord. Here it appears in conjunction and in parallel with Yatav. So in Psa 119:68 there is a Tet KeyWord followed by a Yod KeyWord. Tet and Yod are consecutive letters, and the Psalm seems to antecipate a Yod KeyWord in the stanza of the preceding letter, Tet.

I think that Yatav is a significant word after all, considering its appearance throughout Scripture!

There is a very striking appearance of Yatav in God's promise of the New Covenant in Jeremiah 32!

Jer 32:40-41 And I will make an everlasting covenant with them, that I will not turn away from them, to do them good; but I will put my fear in their hearts, that they shall not depart from me. Yea, I will rejoice over them to do them good, and I will plant them in this land assuredly with my whole heart and with my whole soul.
We've found prominent mentions of Yatav in Book 32, Genesis 32 and Jeremiah 32!

The overall thematic similarity is clear: in Gen 32 there is the tension between Jacob and Esau; in 2 Samuel there is the tension between David and Absalom.

Yes, and I notice that the format color for one of the links was not very clear. I repeat it:

It is very rare. It appears only once more in Scripture (Jdg 7:12).

Various Epistles mention 'good works'. There is a pattern in these references. If we perform a search for the references to 'good works' formed by the specific Greek words kalos (good) and ergon (work), we will find hits in alternating books and only in them!

Thus the only Epistles that refer to 'good (kalos) works (ergon)' are the following highlighted in blue:

That’s a wonderful tapestry! The pattern begins in 1 Timothy on Spoke 10, where we found the link to the Yod KeyWord Yatav, which means 'to do good'. And the pattern ends in 1 Peter on Spoke 16, governed by Ayin. An important concept related to Ayin is revealed in the Ayin KeyWord Aseh, which means 'to work, to do'. So the thread of "good works" begins on Spoke 10 (action) and ends on Spoke 16 (to work).

The phrase 'doing good' can be expressed in more than way in Hebrew. There is yatav (to do good) and aseh tov (to do + good). Aseh, as we have seen in the previous post, is an Ayin KeyWord, meaning to do, to work. It appears in the structure of the Alphabetic Psalm 34.


Psa 34:14 Depart from evil, and do [aseh] good; seek peace, and pursue it.


Psa 34:15 The eyes of the LORD are upon the righteous, and his ears are open unto their cry. ç AYIN VERSE


Psa 34:16 The face of the LORD is against them that do [aseh] evil, to cut off the remembrance of them from the earth.
The word Aseh appears twice in Psalm 34. It does not appear in the Ayin verse proper, which begins with the literal meaning of Ayin, Eye. But the two appearances of Aseh are symmetrically centered around this Ayin verse! They reflect opposing concepts: to do good and to do evil.

This shows that the structure of the Alphabetic Verses often go beyond the plain association between the Hebrew Letter and the first word of the verse. Other beautiful patterns are found.
