2Co 7:12 So although I wrote to you, I wrote not for his cause that did the wrong, nor for his cause that suffered the wrong, but that your earnest care for us might be revealed in you in the sight of the Mighty One.

As I was looking up some verses on purity, I happened to see this verse and it hit me like a lightning bolt. As messed up as the Corinthian believers appeared to be on the outside, Paul didn't write specifically with all those problems in mind. It was not his focus, although that is how we have been taught to read it. Rather, he knew that in writing what he did, their earnest care, which was in them the whole time, would be revealed in them. What grace! How the inner man was revealed in these believers!! And yet, what are they known for in the Christian world? A carnal messed up bunch. How bogus!
