ONLY FOUR..

That's how many generations on earth today!
1. The infants 2. The children 3. The Adults 4. The Seniors

OK, some would say five and include VERY Senior, but hey, after you read Isaiah 1:1 and Hosea 1:1 maybe you'd understand where I'm coming from ?

Isaiah 1:1 The vision of Isaiah the son of Amoz, which he saw concerning Judah and Jerusalem in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah.

Hosea 1:1 The word of the LORD that came unto Hosea, the son of Beeri, in the days of Uzziah, Jotham, Ahaz, and Hezekiah, kings of Judah, and in the days of Jeroboam the son of Joash, king of Israel.

Anyone here who thinks Uzziah was King of Spades and Hezekiah the King of Hearts?

Two-Score: Forty (40). We don't find "two-score" in scripture; it's always "forty". The 40 days and nights of rain, the 40 days fast, the 40 years in the wilderness and 40 days on the mountain top, all serve to boggle the mind, yet impress upon us how the Author uses this number to express various durations of time.

:cheerleader5: Most evident of all are the three periods of the life of Moses: 40 years growing up in Egypt, 40 years in the Midian desert, and 40 years leading Israel. The closing verses of Deuteronomy reveal how he was 120 yrs. of age when he died with his eyes undimmed and strength unabated. Some believers see his age as a kind of challenge or goal to strive for, if they can just get close enough to God. I see it as another clue in the "mystery of the gospel", Eph6:19.

the 40 days fast,
Hello Dux

40 days is a six full weeks excluding the Sabbaths at the beginning and end. Jesus went into the Wilderness for 40 days to be tempted and to fast. If the ministry of Jesus only lasted 70 weeks, he was not ministering for 6 weeks. That leaves 64 weeks of actual ministry. Maybe more time lost with additional breaks bringing it to 63 or 62.

It is probably stretching things to far to link the length of Jesus's ministry with with Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off.

All the best
David

3 years ministry=52x3=156 weeks (add the 5, 1, for 66.. figuratively)It is probably stretching things to far to link the length of Jesus's ministry with with Daniel 9:26 And after threescore and two weeks shall Messiah be cut off.

Concur--think its a stretch too far.. :eek:All the best

Yea David: I wasn't referring to His D/N fast of Matt4:2 or the Day Fast of Lk4:2, though I've long considered those were two separate occasions, based on order of the tempts.

"shall confirm the covenant with many for one week: and in the midst of the week he shall cause the sacrifice and the oblation to cease" -- so crucified on Wednesday, IMO..
