For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Isaiah 9.6

The names of the Messiah given in this verse carry a grandeur that is met in few verses of Scripture. They are on par with titles like ‘King of kings’ and ‘Alpha and Omega.’ It is not surprising then to find that the first name given, (Pela, Wonderful), is an anagram of (Aleph)1, which represents the everlasting God. And since these words are anagrams, they also share the same weight, which reveals yet more of their intrinsic beauty:

Wonderful ( ) = 111 = Aleph ()

Herein shines the glory of the Triune God; The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. Each divine Person is represented in the verse above. For “unto us a Son is given” whose name shall be called “The everlasting Father.” And from the Father and the Son proceeds the Holy Spirit, our Comforter, our Teacher, our Wonderful Counsellor,  as it is written:

And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you. ... But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

The Messiah, in whom “God was manifest in the flesh,” and in whom “dwelleth all the fullness of the Godhead bodily,” is also “he that hath the seven Spirits of God,” which refers to the seven-fold nature of the Holy Spirit, as presented through the prophet Isaiah:[ii]

And there shall come forth a rod out of the stem of Jesse, and a Branch shall grow out of his roots:

1) And the spirit of the LORD shall rest upon him,

2) the spirit of wisdom

3) and understanding,

4) the spirit of counsel

5) and might,

6) the spirit of knowledge

7) and of the fear of the LORD.

The phrase translated as spirit of wisdom is hmkj jwr (Ruach Chokmah). These are the fundamental terms used throughout the Hebrew Scriptures to refer to Spirit (Ruach) and Wisdom (Chokmah). Taking the first two titles given in Isaiah 9.6 as forming the title Wonderful Counsellor (Pela Yo’etz), we find its weight corresponds exactly to that of the second attribute of the Spirit placed upon the Messiah, the Spirit of Wisdom (Ruach Hokmah). The exact words written in the text of Scripture are:

Wonderful Counsellor (Juwy alP) = 287  = The Spirit of Wisdom (hmkj jwr)

This identifies the Holy Spirit, who also is my help, as it is written “My help cometh from the LORD, which made heaven and earth.”[iii] We have the identity:

My Help (yrzu, ezri) = 287

The Hebrew name of Jesus, (uw?hy, Yehoshua) literal means the Lord is Salvation. It is  formed from the root  uvy (yasho, to save), prefixed with the first two letters of the Lord’s name, hwhy. It is an anagram of Salvation, so we have a pair of identities:

Jesus (uw?hy) = 391 = Salvation (huw?y)

Moving to the Greek, we have:

Jesus (Ihsou") = 888

This is the octave of 111/Aleph/Wonderful. It relates to the Salvation, as found, for example, in Psalm 98:

The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God.

We have:

The Salvation of our God (wnyhla tuw?y) = 888

As an aside, this relates back to Genesis 1.1:

The LORD hath made known his salvation = 913

[i] The fact that Aleph ([la) and Pela (alp) are anagrams is not immediately apparent because the form of  Peh (p) changes to its final form ([) when placed at the end of a word.

[ii] Isaiah 11.2

[iii] Psalm 121.2
