GOP and their proposed spending cuts. WHY?

Greetings everyone!

I'd like you all to please take the time to read what I have to say before you vote this year.

It's easy for civilian's to ask Congress to cut spending. I know the feeling and I understand the tax concerns from civilian-private sector employees. Fair as it is, I ask that you consider a few things before you vote this year. Did you attend public schools? If so, do you know where funding comes from to pay teachers? Have you seen the high number of teachers-to-student ratios? Have you ever called the fire department? the police? Do you show support for military members, as well as Veterans? Are the lines long at the DMV (Department of Motor-Vehicle)? If not, did you thank them for hiring enough employees to keep the vehicle tax & registration lines low? Are you on Medicaid/Medicare? Do you collect a social security pension, or disability? Did you fly the friendly skies unaware that federal employees patrol and monitor the friendly skies to minimize aircraft disasters? Have you ever relied on the coast guard for assistance when you've found yourself stranded in water? Do you enjoy taking nice morning/evening walks through your state park? By the way, how are your roads these days? Are they crappy with too many pot-holes? Do you receive common mail every day? Who pays their salaries? And finally, what about our politicians? Where do their income, life-time retirement, and healthcare come from?

These are things you should consider before voting for a candidate who claims he will lower your taxes, and cut federal spending. Because let me tell you the REAL reason why the Republicans want to cut Federal spending. They want to continue receiving their George Bush tax breaks, WITH a hell of a lot more! And to keep those rates low, they want to fire thousands of Federal/State employee's, kill their pensions, and healthcare WHILE at the same time, sustaining their OWN life-time pensions and free healthcare, and all so that the mega-rich people don't have to worry about paying an easy $250,000 out of their BILLIONS! THAT is the reason why they want you to vote Republican; to save them a measly $250,000 out of a billion to a trillion dollars of hidden wealth, stashed away in an overseas bank account, which does NOTHING for you, for me, nor for the REAL Federal employees. Vote for Obama, and you'll save middle class working American's, and help put an end to corporate greed, corruption, and further economic disaster! It was the George Bush tax breaks that killed our economy, and Mitt Romney thinks he can correct the problem by simply firing federal employee's; this means fewer teachers, a smaller military who'll lose their retirement and healthcare plan, fewer police officers, firemen, etc. I hope you get the point.....I HOPE!

I expect from your post you were not expecting any replies. I am just going to make the point that I do not vote. It might seem a cop out to anyone who does not understand, but I do not get involved with politics. I leave God to control what is happening in the nations God lets the politicians have their way according to the vote of the people, as long as it suits the purpose of God. I would rather ask God as our Heavenly Father to provide for my needs instead of asking politicians by way of a vote. Unless it is God's will, nothing will get done. God is letting man rule himself for now up until the time God intervenes and sends Jesus back to the earth, at which time the nations will come to learn and accept the government of Christ.

As citizens of a country in which believers in God's kingdom to come are pilgrims and strangers; Hebrews 13:17 states; Obey them that have the rule over you, and submit yourselves: This means I accept the rules set by the politicians, whether I agree with them or not. God calls His believers to separate themselves from the world. It is sometimes difficult to separate completely, but that is the call; to be in the world but not of it.

God tells us that the world (as ruled by man) is enmity with God; we should not be condoning the ways of the world. This is how I views politics. It is man's government of the world I do not want to be associated with. Like Abraham was a pilgrim and a stranger in the land that was not his (until he inherits it), Abraham's mind was set on the future when the land promised to him would be his. This is the same position that believers in the kingdom of God on earth (to come) should be in. I Peter 2:11 - 18 makes the point that we must submit ourselves to the governors of the country we live in.

I respect the laws of the land and the people that rule over me, but I do not vote for them. I do not vote for politicians to act on my behalf. I submit myself to authority of the land just as Jesus did, unless it conflicted with the will of God. Jesus showed us by example that he always did the will of his Heavenly Father; that was his priority.

Since I accept I am in a very small minority compared to the people in the world, the loss of my vote would not make a bit of difference, but that is not the reason why I do not vote; as I have explained.

We need some sort of order. But the directions we have gone are not based on simple economics. They're based on ideals. They're not based on reality.

You're indoctrinated into a belief that billionaires are only interested in spending millions to save some money for themselves. It doesn't even make sense. Those evil rich people! It's useless to focus your reasons for this or that on billionaires or millionaires. You're blaming all the problems on someone else. It's a rather lame and convenient argument.

We can only spend what we have, or we can be enslaved to our credit holders. We become dependent on their money. It makes us unproductive. Two steps forward always result in three steps back when our spending is not based on reality. Your point about their money doing "nothing for me" is an admission that we need their money, but we somehow need this money to go to the wasteful government...again, doesn't make sense.

Government is nothing more than another industry fighting for a piece of the pie. But the problem is that it winds up being a mandated piece of the pie...because they said so. And government finds ways to funnel money to buddies with similar interests. If you don't think this is the way it works, you are uninformed.

America is the only nation, perhaps in all of history, that has become what it is because of liberty. Liberty is our signature. With government growing and growing, the only thing we gain is the loss of liberty. We give up liberty for "fairness", which never really exists. We wind up relying on stupid government that is rarely efficient and is rarely really ever fair. I probably could have worded all of this better, but oh well...

You should take a step back and look at the big picture. Workers do not "need their money" as you put it. We demand it! A worker is entitled to be paid rightly (as Jesus expects them to pay fair wages) in order to afford each American working class citizen the means to support themselves, their families, and even their government. But the mega-rich refuse to pay workers what they need to live in an economy that they've established. Sure we as workers could stop taking out loans, but that would make things even worse. Working class Americans are forced into fighting over 40% percent of American's wealth, while the mega-rich sustain the rest for their stocks and shares. The government has a responsibility to ensure that working class citizens are not being dooped or screwed by corporations and banks, as they've been doing for decades now. Wallstreet ruined our economy and George Bush Junior allowed banks to engage in predatory loans against the poor. Remember sub-prime mortgaging? I actually had a guy come to my house a few months ago, who tried to sell me a refinancing sub-prime loan. He showed me how I'd save thousands of dollars the first 15 years, at which time (he claims) my principal would be paid down by more than half. He then says that after 15 years, my interest rates would go up depending on the national debt. (This is why the GOP wanted to drive down the National debt because of new sub-prime lending practices). He acted as though that I did not know how to do math.

FIRST, my house would not drop by almost half in 15 years under his proposal. It would actually be much slower than what my Mortgage is now. In just three years, my interest rate would climb from 4% to an amazing 7%. My mortgage would increase by about $500 to $900 dollars, almost doubling my current fixed rate cost. And then in another three to four years, my interest rate would climb to almost 11% percent, making it nearly impossible to make my mortgage payment. THIS is what happened to those who lost their homes during the Bush administration. I'm sick and tired of people saying that the poor took out loans they couldn't afford. That's just a bad way of saying it. It's they got SCREWED into taking out loans that they were no longer able to afford after their interest rates began to spike. Then what happened? The Banks were bailed out using tax payer money, and yet they STILL ended up owning the foreclosed homes they were already profiting from with their sub-prime loans. Must be nice to own assets paid for by the tax payer, and then sell those assets for profit when the market goes back up. Thus in essence, the banks were paid twice for one house!

So the poor are not relying on the rich; the poor demand that the rich start paying them what they truly deserve.

That was a good post. I agree we can all get screwed by inflation and deflation and interest rates going through the roof. All this goes to show that the rules and regulations of men can be unjust and that socialism, democracy, communism, and all forms of men's government do not work.

There can only be one form of government that will put this world on track and that is the ruler-ship by Christ who will reign in the future with the power of God at his disposal and who will reign in righteousness. Righteousness is the lacking ingredient of any human government. Even the best intentioned politicians have their ideals thwarted by their peers. Until we have a ruler who rules in righteousness and governs with fairness and right judgment, the world has no hope of living in harmony.

The ruler-ship of Jesus will be a dictatorship, but it will be a dictatorship that works to the benefit of mankind. Ultimately, when Christ has restored the earth and those redeemed are living in God's kingdom upon the earth, they will be doing the will of God naturally and to the exclusion of all sin. In the kingdom a person will know that they are not going to die and there is no advantage to be gained over any other person. All persons will be valued equally and because they will be as the Angels of God which are sexless, then all temptation will have been removed.

At present, we try our best to "resist the devil and he will flee from you". In this present life, a temptation to one person is not always a temptation to another. In other words, we can have two people next to each other looking at something which is a temptation to one person, but not to the other. Are we to say that there is an external tempter (Satan) who is tempting one person only and does not tempt the other? How can you explain this? The explanation of temptation as the origin of the thoughts within the mind to act in selfish and ungodly ways and are self-generated comes from having the same understanding which James had when he writes (James 1);
13 Let no man say when he is tempted, I am tempted of God: for God cannot be tempted with evil, neither tempteth he any man:
14 But every man is tempted, when he is drawn away of his own lust, and enticed.
15 Then when lust hath conceived, it bringeth forth sin: and sin, when it is finished, bringeth forth death.

My bro. I'm glad that we agree on sin causing a problem within our government. I'd go even further that sin isn't only plaguing our government, but our society as well; in fact all societies are subjected to temptation and sin. I disagree about a future coming of Jesus who would thus create a dictatorship, but I won't debate this on this thread. Perhaps on the Christianity thread, I might consider debating this. I for one do not believe in a future physical return of Jesus; I believe He came as foretold in the first century, to complete the construction of the Church; the construction was accomplished by the Apostles, and the house was completed. Since that time, the house merely continues to increase, from one generation to the next.

Sin is here on this earth, not because of Satan, but because of our own temptations brought on by habits we learned from our youth. The earth is nothing more than a field for planting crops, and not the intended place of perpetual habitation. Consider the universe, and how endless it is. There are no edges, cliffs, or endings anywhere in the universe. Why would God plan mankind’s eternal habitation on such a tiny microscopic speck in the universe, figuratively speaking? When Christians have completed the will of God on this planet, they are thus taken into heaven to dwell in their eternal abode, in the heavens. Although each person might are assigned levels of responsibility, like the Angels, having charge of a particular person, city, or nation. Or better yet, what about another world?

I for one do not believe that planet earth is the only humanoid dwelling; I believe there are other established planets with Christians abiding there, as well as sinner. Like the earth, they are fields for crops to be raised for God's heavenly kingdom.
