Contract on Children - Part 1 (Winkie Pratney)

What do you make of this?

Come, Holy Ghost, our hearts inspire, let us thine influence prove ...
And sound, with all thy saints below, the depths of love divine.

    Hi Richard,

It's too long and slow and just says things I already know.
Then let me thank you for giving it a go. Perhaps others, particularly Christians, will learn something from it.

Does it have a point that you wanted to discuss?
It has a point, but, I hadn't planned to stir up meaningless discussion. I think it offers useful insight to those who didn't have insight before, and perhaps a discussion will spring up around the thoughts of those who want to watch it, if they feel like commenting.

    Hey there Charisma,

I base my choice of information sources largely on the rate at which the information flows as well as the novelty (new to me) of the ideas, the relevance, and of course, the validity.

And I wouldn't want to participate in a "meaningless" discussion!

Is the point of the lecture that abortion (as murder of children) is a sign of the second coming, following the pattern of the murder of children when Moses was born, and again when Christ was born?

    All the best,

    Richard

I'd say there are many more than one point being made during that talk, and it depends on the extent of the listener's understanding what they take away from it, and whether they're any wiser for having heard it.

As you know from Romans 1, there are basic truths which God intends all men to embrace, which for their own reasons, a surprising number of people choose to degrade (or downgrade) in their own experience by their responses (to that knowledge of truth), all the while effectively rejecting or ignoring that a meaningful upgrade way beyond a grasp of basic truth is but a few breaths away - should they desire it.

Coming from 1 Corinthians 14's model for the assembling and encouragement of saints, I have few fixed ideas about how God should speak to the individual, or how He should bring them closer to Himself through His word, which is true, and is truth; because He knows what a person needs to understand, and He has His own ways of communicating those details, often using unsuspecting mouthpieces who don't know He's using them that way.

Well, OK ... your answer seems a little opaque to me.

Was there a reason you chose to post that particular video?

I'm familiar with Romans 1, but I'm not sure what it means so it's rather difficult to "embrace" the "basic truths" it is supposed to contain. For example: What are we supposed to be able to know about "the eternal power and Godhead" from "the things that are made"? Please be precise. As far as I can tell, we could not even conclude monotheism from the things that are made. Everything appears to be in flux and conflict, so that would imply many gods like in the Greek pantheon, would it not? Or maybe it implies there is no god at all? And how would we know? Is there a scientific experiment we could conduct to discern between atheism, pantheism, polytheism, or monotheism? I think not ... so it seems to me that Romans 1 is "preaching to the choir" and asserting that the knowledge of the Jewish God is available from the natural world when in fact it is really just a religious dogma that must be learned from religious texts.

    All the best,

    Richard
