    THE HOUSE OF JACOB

I thought it was worth a new thread to show the tables Stephen Coneglan made from my first post. Here are the 69 people that went to Egypt with Jacob (Gen 46), 48 from the

Each table shows Hebrew names, their gematrias and their number of letters.
Here are Steve's comments (in more proper English than mine):
 The House of Leah that went down into Egypt consists of 48 individuals. Of these, 32 descend directly from Leah, while 16 descend from her handmaid, Zilpah. The ratio of Leah’s descendants to those of her handmaid is therefore 2:1.
 The names of the 32 descendants from Leah’s lineage are composed of 126 letters in total, whereas those of the 16 descendants through her handmaid, Zilpah, are composed of 63 letters. The ratio of letters in the names of Leah’s descendants to those of her handmaid is therefore 2:1.
 The total gematria for all 48 descendants enumerated in the House of Leah is 11952. This number factorises as 48 x 249, where 48 is the total number of descendants from the House of Leah that went down into Egypt.
 The gematria sum of 11952 for the House of Leah that went down into Egypt also factorises as 36 x 332, where 36 is the gematria of the name Leah, in Hebrew לאה .
 The House of Rachel that went down into Egypt consists of 21 individuals. Of these, 14 descend directly from Rachel, while 7 descend from her handmaid, Bilhah. The ratio of Rachel’s descendants to those of her handmaid is therefore 2:1.
 The names of the 14 descendants from Rachel’s lineage are composed of 52 letters in total, whereas those of the 7 descendants through her handmaid, Bilhah, are composed of 26 letters. The ratio of letters in the names of Rachel’s descendants to those of her handmaid is therefore 2:1.
 The total gematria for all 21 descendants enumerated in the House of Rachel is 4998. This number factorises as 21 x 238, where 21 is the total number of descendants from the House of Rachel that went down into Egypt, and 238 is the gematria of the name Rachel, in Hebrew רחל .

    I'll add a few remarks.
    - Simeon = 466 has 6 sons of which gematrias totalize 932 = 2 x 466.
    - Gad = 7 has 7 sons.
    - I already pointed out that the spellings are those of the most common printed Hebrew Bible, but 3 names from the House of Leah are written with an additional waw in Biblia Hebraica Stuttgartensia, חצרן , the son of ראובן ; חצרן , the son of פרץ , the son of יהודה ; and שמרן , the son of יששכר .
Including Jacob (= 182), that gives a total for the 70 of
    11952 + 18 + 182 + 4998 = 17150 = 70 x 245
If this matches Gen 46, in which it can be supposed the 70 are the 69 descendants of Jacob plus himself, Exo 1:5 seems to put Jacob apart of the 70. The Midrashim stated that the 70th was Iokebed, Qehat's daughter (and Moses' mother) who was born just on the arrival in Egypt. It's again quite strange that, taking Iokeved's gematria (42) instead of Jacob's (182), the total is still a multiple of 70
    17010 = 70 x 243

    Thanks again to Steve.

Those numbers are striking for their consistency.

    Thanks for sharing.
