Good morning Henry,

What browser are you using? There are some known issues with the new comment editor and various browsers.

vBulletin just released anothe update that is supposed to fix some of the bugs. Man, just moderating and maintaining a forum sure can become a fulf time job!
    Good afternoon Richard,

As a rule I use Google. I tried a few different browsers, MSN and Bing, but none helped.

Thanks for the info. Hope they can fix the bugs, they would be great to use. You are doing a great job!

Ah ... those are the "Search Engines" you use. When I asked about your browser, I meant Internet Explorer (IE) or Firefox (FF) or Chrome, or some such. And when you check, you can click on the Help > About (or something like that) to find the version number like IE 8.1 or FF 3.6 or whatever. That will help me debug your problem.

    The tables are really cool!

And you can use them without using the "table" button if you don't mind writing a few tags like this:

Hey

    there

Henry!

    :icon_hello:

To do this, you will want to click the "Switch Editor to Source mode" button in the upper left corner of the editor.

It will then look like this when posted:

    Hey there
    Henry!

You can just copy/paste the code and use it as a template if you want. Just replace the text I wrote with what you wrote.

Of course, it would be a lot better to find a solution, so please send me the version info of your browser so I can dig into it.

    Thanks!

    Richard

Always did get messed up with internet terms and the use of computers. When it comes to computers I---well you know what I mean.

Okay what I have now and use is Firefox 3.6. I also have IE 9.0 but use Firefox daily, so I hope this helps.

And thanks for what your doing, I really appreciate it. Thanks for the template I'll copy/paste and save it.

I know how you feel about computers. Don't blame you one bit! Try making a living with them and see how you feel. Here's a couple of my favorite icons for you:

As for your problem with tables - could you pop open IE 9 and see if it works? And how about upgrading to the latest version of Firefox? It's pretty fast and easy. If the problem persists after that, I'll dig in deeper. I like squishing bugs, but if simple updates fix the problem that's even better.

OH, and some of the bugs in the editor were fixed in the latest upgrade to the forum software. I just did the HUGE update from 3.8.6 to 4.1.7 and the next day they put out 4.1.8. So I'll wait a couple days to review the reports of those who are using it to see if there are any new egregious bugs introduced in their attempt to eliminate the old egregious bugs ... ... but it's all good. The more you do it the better you get. It's as much an art as a science.

    Hi Richard,

Yes I tried IE 9, didn't work. After I read your post, I upgraded my Firefox to 8.0 and still the table, rows and column icons are not working.

It seems these are not compatible with my computer.

Anyone else out there have this problem?

Richard, this is for you in honor of all your hard work and grit needed to get through all the problems.

Thanks for the morning smiles Rick! As a technical guy, you know the buggy mess that lies under the hood of most software, especially web software that has to work with dozens of versions of the major browsers, each with their own set of bugs! But there is a certain sense of satisfaction that comes with making it all work, especially when thousands of conversations begin to buzz and bloom ...

Oh yeah, I'm pulling my hair our right now with a Web Dispatcher I am trying to configure to load balance Java App Servers. Throw some SSL certificates on top of that and a requirement to be able to communicate outside the firewall into Internet land and you have a real recipe for craziness (ensuring that everything is secure).

    Here's to ya, bro.
