    TIMELINE

I think of these 3 periods as those of Matthew 13:33 about the "hidden leaven" and how WE are "One Bread", 1Cor 10:17, looking to Rise and meet the Lord in the air! Amen?

That's an interesting view. I noticed something similar, but with a little more detail when I aligned the each century with a letter of the Hebrew alphabet. There are some amazing symmetries between the BC and AD cycles, the most obvious being the placement of the Hebrew and Christian theocracies which both span the letters spelling "My King" - which is why I call this diagram The Key to the Kingdoms:

    • Skepticism is the antiseptic of the mind.
    • Remember why we debate. We have nothing to lose but the errors we hold. Who but a stubborn fool would hold to errors once they have been exposed?

I'll have to look at that more--not that familiar with the Hebrew. Here's another variation of my 3-stage Timeline and how it fits with 2Pet3:8.
Story in the OT about David's 3 choices and in one account he chose 7 and in another he chose 3. This diagram illustrates how we're now in the 3rd Day (from Jesus), but in the 7th from Adam -- tickled me when I saw that.

    Hi throwback,

Your thread on Timeline seems similar to my idea of the 3 Kosmos as presented by Rose. I divided each Kosmos based on major events at about 2,000 years interval and it resulted in about the same timeline as in your diagram:

    Many Blessings.

    Seek and You shall find,

    Tks for your comment, Cheow..

Those of us who read the Bible are aware of the thousand years (to come), so my diagram illustrates "3-score and ten".. and it's based on the "two covenants" of Gal 4:24 -- the OT for the Jews under the Law, and the NT for the Gentiles by faith or grace..

The 2 wives of Jacob are like the 2 sisters (Israel/Judah) married to God - Jer3:8.

40/40/40 was the lifetime of Moses and it ALSO describes the reigns of Saul, David, and Solomon.. Even though Moses lived to be 120 yrs., his Psalm 90 (His ONLY psalm!) tells us to apply our hearts unto wisdom, and says our days will be [seventy] -- so where does he get off giving us a 50 yr. cut?

Wouldn't it be more accurate to say that the New Covenant was for both Jews and Gentiles?

As for the "thousand years (to come)" - where does the Bible say that? The only reference to any "thousand year reign of Christ" is in Rev 20, and it doesn't say that he is going to reign on earth, and the numbers in Revelation (the most symbolic book in the Bible) are almost all symbolic - e.g. 144,000, 666, 12,000 x 12,000 x 12,000 New Jerusalem, etc. This is why the idea of "Millennialism" has not been generally believed or taught in the church over the last 2000 years. It was popularized largely by false teachers in the 19th century who were falsely predicting the rapture and the return of Christ.

True, the New Covenant is for both Jew and Gentile (those two are specifically emphasized in Romans), but since the death on the cross, that 'old wife' is now free to marry another!
As for Rev20, maybe I've been too much exposed to "millennium" propaganda, and have seen the "3-score & ten" as fitting that paradigm... I'll think again, on it. Thanks.

A mind is like a parachute - it functions properly only when open.

It's great to meet a friend with any open mind.

Evangelical Christianity is saturated with teachings about a future "Rapture" and "Millennium" and a lot of other "Left Behind" style stuff that is not well supported in Scripture.

True. My wife and I were on the island of Crete in '86 when the TV there hosted a debate between LaHaye and Donahue -- it was painful to watch how Donahue destroyed whatever Lahaye brought up.. Well, these days seem similar to the account where Lot had to be rescued, so take care.. Blessings!

Thanks for sharing that ... "in the mouth of two or three witnesses." It's good to have some confirmation.

All the very best to your and your wife!
