    Jeremiah 31 verse-by-verse pattern

    I think I found a verse-by-verse pattern in Jeremiah 31:
    Jeremiah 31
    31
Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that I will make a new covenant with the house of Israel, and with the house of Judah:

Covenant matches the chapter and the verse.

32Not according to the covenant that I made with their fathers in the day that I took them by the hand to bring them out of the land of Egypt; which my covenant they brake, although I was an husband unto them, saith the LORD:

33But this shall be the covenant that I will make with the house of Israel; After those days, saith the LORD, I will put my law in their inward parts, and write it in their hearts; and will be their God, and they shall be my people.

34And they shall teach no more every man his neighbour, and every man his brother, saying, Know the LORD: for they shall all know me, from the least of them unto the greatest of them, saith the LORD: for I will forgive their iniquity, and I will remember their sin no more.

35Thus saith the LORD, which giveth the sun for a light by day, and the ordinances of the moon and of the stars for a light by night, which divideth the sea when the waves thereof roar; The LORD of hosts is his name:

Sea and roar link with 1Chronicles 16:32 which is also parallel with Revelation 13:1

Divideth matches the book number 2's definition.

36If those ordinances depart from before me, saith the LORD, then the seed of Israel also shall cease from being a nation before me for ever.

ordinances links with Hebrews 9 in both chapter/chapter and verse/book. Even though it's not a keylink there's something worth studying. Jeremiah says that if the ordinances are stopped then the nation would cease to exist. In Hebrews the writer encourages the ordinances (as I understand) to be kept, looking at Hebrews 5-10 if not the whole book.

37Thus saith the LORD; If heaven above can be measured, and the foundations of the earth searched out beneath, I will also cast off all the seed of Israel for all that they have done, saith the LORD.

38Behold, the days come, saith the LORD, that the city shall be built to the LORD from the tower of Hananeel unto the gate of the corner.

    Zechariah 14:
10All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses.

    Nehemiah 2:5 and Nehemiah 3:15

39And the measuring line shall yet go forth over against it upon the hill Gareb, and shall compass about to Goath.

40And the whole valley of the dead bodies, and of the ashes, and all the fields unto the brook of Kidron, unto the corner of the horse gate toward the east, shall be holy unto the LORD; it shall not be plucked up, nor thrown down any more for ever.

Making ("cutting") a covenant is a concept linked to Spoke 9. 31 is 9 modulo 22. Thus Jeremiah 31:31 is Jeremiah (9,9) - the great prophecy about God cutting the New Covenant, just like he cut the first one. See Deuteronomy 9:9.

Verse 32 is on Spoke 10, governed by Yod which literally means Hand.

I don't remember the link between Spoke 11 and People. Can you help me?

BTW, there is more regarding this verse 33, but I'll share some other time.

Excellent! It is a top level link. Verse 34 => Spoke 12 => Lamed => Teach.

Amazing! Another link to the literal meaning of a Hebrew letter! Spoke 13 => Mem => Water. And the first occurrence of (sea, roar) is found in Book 13.

Yes, and God divided the waters on Day 2. He also divided the Red Sea in Book 2. Jeremiah is the second prophet.

Verse 35 is on Spoke 13 which lies on the same diameter as Spoke 2.

Interesting. Maybe there's more. "Ordinances" also appear in verse 35.

"Foundations" relates to Spoke 15 => Samek => Support. Like the foundation of the Temple in Ezra and Haggai.

Another great link! I had posted this one before in the forum. I'd have to look for it.

It is beautiful to find one of the most important OT prophecies being alphabetically indexed as it is!

Rehoboam, Jeroboam: The word "am" at the end means "people" and found in book 11.

That sounds rather weak. Is the fact alone that these two names appear in Book 11 enough to distinguish "am (people)" as a Spoke 11 coordinated theme?

Also Judges 11 and 1 Samuel 11 mentions the Ammonites which also derives from "people". Actually Judges 11 and 1 Samuel 11 have many things in common between the 2.

I wonder the how meanings correspond to the text of 1 Kings (Rehoboam, Jeroboam).

Now I remember! You and Richard chatted about it. See his comment at http://www.biblewheel.com/Forum/showpost.php?p=5909&postcount=38.

Thanks. I Don't remember reading that either. But Am Ayin +Mem =110.

What about the meaning of the names Rehoboam and Jeroboam? It's strange that these two names occur side-by-side.

Why "strange"? But the meaning of their names being put side by side is indeed curious. They share a similar structure: a verb rooted in the letter Resh + the word people.

"Jeroboam" associates "to contend" with "people". "Rehoboam" associates "to enlarge" with "people". It is very ironic - Jeroboam strived against the new king and brought the schism, attracting 10 tribes with him. Rehoboam didn't "enlarge" his kingdom, but actually shrinked it.

It was in their times that the people of God were divided. It reminds of Genesis 11 where the first occurrence of the word "people" (am) is found. It is the account of the tower of Babel, when the peoples were divided.

The Number 11 of course links to Division, as we have discussed several times. The names of both men appear mostly in Book 11. Jeroboam debuts in Chapter 11 and Rehoboam first appears in Chapter 12. The break between these two chapters divides the book of 1 Kings in two as well as marks the historical division of the tribes of Israel. Isn't it amazing?

The book of 1 Kings begins with the building of the Temple and ends with the scattering of Israel, like Genesis 11.
