John 1 is Genesis 1’s reflection

The description of creation in Genesis 1:4-5 mirrors the description of creation in John 1:4-5. Both speak of God giving light and that light being divided from the darkness. This exemplifies the Spoke 1 theme of beginnings, which is perfectly reflected in the symmetry of the first chapter of John.

Gen.1:4-5 And God saw the light and it was good; and God divided the light from the darkness. And God called the light Day (Jesus is called the Day Star), and the darkness he called Night (absence of light). And the evening and the morning were the first day.
