The finished work of Christ….what does that mean?

If we view the Bible as a fulfilled book, that is to say the documentation of a work that has already been accomplished in its entirety….then from that perspective we can look at what it is that Christ has accomplished for us, understanding that work to be complete. Not turning again to doing the work that has already been done, but rather accepting by faith the completeness of Christ’s finished work….thus being able to focus on what it means to live in the Kingdom of God.

This differs greatly from viewing the Bible as a yet unfinished account of Christ’s work, with mankind still waiting for its completion and looking to the works of man (the increase of wickedness) to bring about this "yet to come" final event of God’s judgment "Day of the Lord" so the Kingdom of God can begin.

Continuing on with the finished work of Christ…..

If as I believe, we are now living in the New Kingdom age; what exactly does that mean? For starters I can look at the Bible as a book designed by God that allows me to see the complete finished work of Christ and to understand that God’s plan has been accomplished. To view the going forth of the Gospel as a declaration that all was finished, instead of it being the 'Good News' that is yet to be fulfilled by some future coming of Christ. I can know that Christ has indeed come in power and glory, and that I am part of the New Jerusalem which resides in this present Kingdom of God.

I can know that the whole of the Bible is the message that God wants us to have, and whether or not I can verify each event described in its pages….I know that it is His Story told exactly the way God intended. I can begin my journey now to come to a full communion with God not having to wait for some unfulfilled future judgment upon the sins of mankind. The book of Revelation can be seen as the capstone to a work that is finished, and complete, giving great depth to understanding the revealed Christ.

The structure of the Bible Wheel declares the Bible as a finished book with integrity and unity, presenting its contents as a sealed complete work that God has given us His children…. revealing in this age a depth of understanding than has never been known before.

In the process of completing the "work" that the Father had
for the Son................................The Cross...................
He learned obedience through His sufferings.....................
and through [His sufferings of the Cross]......the captain of our salvation was made "perfect". (Hebrews 2:10, 5:9).

He (the Son on behalf of the Father) is now "perfecting" His brethren. The finished work must now be finished in us.

The work of Christ has been finished.
Will look at the Bible wheel, I have never looked it it yet.
Not only is it a finished work , for the children of Israel but
there were alot of the religions who had an influence on
Ancient man.
Reincarnation being a central theme in some. The work
of Christ even dispelled any notion of it as being a part of the finished work of the Fathers Son.
Paul in his own way uses a type of fliped over , inside out circle in his teaching.

It is the Father,the Holy Spirit of Life that is transforming us into the Image of his son.
The Son has departed and the Father carries on the work of the promised seed post AD70.

Recently I was considering the parable of the ten virgins which to me, speaks warning of being prepared for His return. I'm assuming that you have come to the conclusion that the "Bridegroom" of this parable has returned? If so...

(1) Who do the 10 virgins represent?
(2) What has become of the 5 "prepared and 5 "unprepared"?
(3) Does this parable have an application for today? If so, in what way?

Simply asking as one who is "uncertain" that all is fulfilled.

Thank you for your questions...

In this parable of the Ten Virgins, Jesus uses the imagery of Lamps and Oil to convey a specific message to His 1st century audience…that message being: those who are filled with the Holy Spirit will hear the voice of the Bridegroom at his coming. The five wise Virgins had oil in their vessels (the Holy Spirit), thus their way was lit by the fire of the Holy Spirit when the Bridegroom came for them, whereas the five foolish Virgins had no oil, consequently they were surprised and unprepared by the appearance of the Bridegroom and could not find their way to the wedding, for they did not have the guidance of the Holy Spirit to show them the way. And though the five foolish virgins asked of the five wise ones to share their oil, we know that the gift of the Holy Spirit cannot be shared, each person must come to Christ on their own.

Jesus told His followers that He would not leave them comfortless, but would send the Holy Spirit that would guide them in all truth; this is like the flame of the lamp filled with oil which lights the path of understanding. The Holy Spirit would be as a treasure dwelling in earthen vessels (their bodies), giving them knowledge of the the Lord's coming.

Even though the use of the terms Lamps and Oil referring to the Holy Spirit, had its first application to those living in the 1st century; the same truths can be applied to all who seek understanding from the Bible today. Those who are filled with the Holy Spirit have a treasure within them that guides them in their walk with God; lighting their path with knowledge and understanding. Hope that helps...
