Daniel 2:31 "You looked, O king, and there before you stood a large statue—an enormous, dazzling statue, awesome in appearance. 32 The head of the statue was made of pure gold, its chest and arms of silver, its belly and thighs of bronze, 33 its legs of iron, its feet partly of iron and partly of baked clay. 34 While you were watching, a rock was cut out, but not by human hands. It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold were broken to pieces at the same time and became like chaff on a threshing floor in the summer. The wind swept them away without leaving a trace. But the rock that struck the statue became a huge mountain and filled the whole earth.
39 "After you, another kingdom will rise, inferior to yours. Next, a third kingdom, one of bronze, will rule over the whole earth. 40 Finally, there will be a fourth kingdom, strong as iron—for iron breaks and smashes everything—and as iron breaks things to pieces, so it will crush and break all the others. 41 Just as you saw that the feet and toes were partly of baked clay and partly of iron, so this will be a divided kingdom; yet it will have some of the strength of iron in it, even as you saw iron mixed with clay. 42 As the toes were partly iron and partly clay, so this kingdom will be partly strong and partly brittle. 43 And just as you saw the iron mixed with baked clay, so the people will be a mixture and will not remain united, any more than iron mixes with clay.
Dan.2:44-45 And in the days of these kings shall the God of heaven set up a kingdom, which shall never be destroyed: and the kingdom shall not be left to other people, but it shall break in pieces and consume all these kingdoms, and it shall stand for ever. Forasmuch as thou sawest that the stone was cut out of the mountain without hands, and that it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold; the great God hath made known to the king what shall come to pass hereafter and the dream is certain, and the interpretation thereof sure.
We all know that the "rock" mentioned is Jesus representing Chrisianity, but it struck the feet of iron and clay(verse 34). The feet is thought from my analysis to be the extension of the Roman Empire till modern times. And when the rock strikes, it starts first with the
:
1. feet of iron and clay
2. iron (Roman empire)
3. clay
4. bronze (Greek Empire)
5. silver (Mede-persian empire)
6. gold (Babylon empire)
Question 1: what does the feet of iron and clay(item1), and clay(item 3) stands for?
Question 2: Why strike the feet of iron and clay first, then the Roman Empire, then the clay, then the Greek, then the Mede-Persian, then the Babylonian?
Question 3: compare to verse 44-45, it says that it breaks the iron(Romans) first, then the bronze (Greek), then the clay(?), then the silver(Mede-Persian), then the gold (Babylonian). What is the clay?
Question 4: The rock should hit the gold(Babylonian) first, then silver (Mede=Persian), then clay (?), then the bronze ( Greek), then iron(Romans).
It struck the statue on its feet of iron and clay and smashed them. 35 Then the iron, the clay, the bronze, the silver and the gold
44 it brake in pieces the iron, the brass, the clay, the silver, and the gold;
Anyone care to answer the questions?
