Blessed be the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, who hath blessed us with all spiritual blessings in heavenly places in Christ: According as he hath chosen us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and without blame before him in love: Ephesians 1:3f (Spoke 5, Cycle 3)

God's eternal love is the essence of the Gospel. Our souls have no greater assurance than to know that God loved and chose us before the foundation of the world. The structure of the Wheel adorns this magnificent doctrine with grace and beauty.

God's love links Deuteronomy to Ephesians. Searching the entire Bible for all verses that contain the words chose[n] and holy within one verse of love[d] yields exactly two passages: Ephesians 1.4 (quoted above) and this one from Deuteronomy (vs. 7.6f):

For thou art an holy people unto the LORD thy God: the LORD thy God hath chosen thee to be a special people unto himself, above all people that are upon the face of the earth. The LORD did not set his love upon you, nor choose you, because ye were more in number than any people; for ye were the fewest of all people: But because the LORD loved you, and because he would keep the oath which he had sworn unto your fathers, hath the LORD brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you out of the house of bondmen, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt.

This KeyLink is very strong. It exists in six of the seven versions used for comparison in this study. It is missing from the NIV only because the translaters chose to translate "set his love upon you" as "set his affection on you."
