Spoke 8 Ruth, Amos, 1 Thessalonians

Thus he shewed me: and, behold, the Lord stood upon a wall (chomah) made by a plumbline, with a plumbline in his hand. And the LORD said unto me, Amos, what seest thou? And I said, A plumbline. Then said the Lord, Behold, I will set a plumbline in the midst of my people Israel: I will not again pass by them any more: And the high places of Isaac shall be desolate, and the sanctuaries of Israel shall be laid waste; and I will rise against the house of Jeroboam with the sword. It is impossible to communicate the kind of wonder this little verse evoked. I noticed it only after having fully developed the meaning of Chet and its relation to the KeyWord chomah. The discovery of the dominant image of "fire on the walls" in the opening passage of Amos was itself quite impressive, but to see here a unique vision of the Lord Himself standing on this KeyWord chomah is simply over the top! There is no other possibility; once again we are beholding the highly specific, detailed, and deliberate integration of the Holy Word with the pattern of the Hebrew Alphabet! The Chet Verse of AV Lamentations 2:8

The LORD hath purposed (chashav) to destroy the wall (chomah) of the daughter of Zion: he hath stretched out a line, he hath not withdrawn his hand from destroying: therefore he made the rampart and the wall (chomah) to lament; they languished together.

One of the most important lessons I learned as I wrote the Bible Wheel book was that the Alphabetic Verses contain the true keys to the structure of the God's Word. There were many times I felt lost, not knowing what I should write until I examined the Alphabetic Verses. The amazing thing about Spoke 8 is that I wrote the two articles on the relation between Amos and the Chet KeyWord chomah (wall) without realizing that chomah appeared in the Alphabetic Verses. I missed it because it appears only as a secondary KeyWord in the Chet Alphabetic Verses. The discovery - some six months after finishing the book - that God used chomah twice in the the Chet verse of Lamentations 2:8 confirms yet again the validity of the Wheel. This confirmation is amplified by the strong thematic correlation between Lamentations 2:8 and Amos 7:7f quoted at the head of this page.
