Genesis 5 - Hey - Adam's Family Line
This is the book of the generations of Adam. In the day that God created
man, in the likeness of God made he him; Male and female created he them; and blessed
them, and called their name Adam, in the day when they were created.
Genesis 5 contains the first geneology, or family history. This coheres
with one of the great themes of Spoke 5, which is most generally
Life itself, and
the nucleus of human life called the Family.
This all interconnects with the first
Blessing (given on the Fifth Day when Life was first created)
and the Fifth Comandment - the the first
commandment with promise, as explicitly stated
in Ephesians on Spoke 5 (Ephesians 6.2f):
Honour thy father and mother; (which is the first commandment with promise;)
That it may be well with thee, and thou mayest live long on the earth.
The phrase "well with thee" from the Fifth Commandment forms the
thematic basis of Deuteronomy.
All of this integrates with Genesis 5 which contains the first geneology, or
list of parents, which are the object of the Fifth Commandment.
This further integrates with the Heh KeyWord (Halak, Walk).
Though we may infer that Adam
and Eve walked with God in the Garden, the first verse explicitly stating that
someone walked with God is found in Genesis 5 (vs 22):
And Enoch lived sixty and five years, and begat Methuselah: And
Enoch walked with God after he begat Methuselah three hundred years, and
begat sons and daughters: And all the days of Enoch were three hundred sixty and
five years: And Enoch walked with God: and he was not; for God took
Walking with God is a metaphor for being filled with His Spirit. As it is written in
Galatians 5 (vs. 25): If we live in the Spirit, let us also walk in the Spirit.
This deeply integrates with the number of years Enoch walked with God:
The Spirit of God
This relation is discussed at some length in the entry for Number 300 in the Gematria Reference.
The theme of "walking with God" dominates Spoke 5. It is easy to measure.
Searching the entire Bible for all verses
containing the words "walk*" and "God " yields the following distribution:
Note that the Fifth Spoke is the only Spoke that contains hits on all three
Cycles. This is discussed in more detail in the Spoke 5 article called
Walking with God.
